Hi there. My name is Tamara Lance and I make the web look good.

Web Design Takeout is all about convenience. I work fast and efficient, giving all my focus to each project to get everything done right!

The best part? I’m not only an artist on the web, but I’m a painter, photographer and generally creative soul. That means that I treat everything I do as if it were a work of art.

So, go learn a little bit about me and what I do and then go take a look at things I have done. If you like what you see, I look forward to working with you. Drop me a note and tell me all about your new project.

Five Elements of a Good Web Image

There are five things you’ll need before you embark on the journey of establishing yourself on the web. Although you can sometimes get by without all of these things, who wants to do things halfway? Shall we begin?

1. Professional Photos

If you haven’t already, you will want to get some professional photos taken of yourself. These will need to be high-resolution photos with soft lighting and solid or nearly solid backgrounds. Get more than one taken with different poses and different backgrounds. After all, you won’t want to use the same picture throughout your website.

2. Get Connected

Make sure you have a few social network accounts – namely Twitter and Facebook. These are great places to network and people will want to network with you.

3. A Good Bio

Make sure you have a well-written biography for your about page. A good bio will outline your qualifications in your field and will add a touch of personal interest. Don’t make it too long – a couple of paragraphs will do.

4. A Good Email

A person’s email address can really say a lot about who they are. Do you really want the world to know you as hotchic69@aol.com? Probably not. If you have your domain name (which we will get to in a moment), you will want to use that as your email. Don’t use a free account such as Yahoo or Gmail. Learn to use Outlook. You will thank me later.

5. Your Own Domain

And yes, of course, you will need your own domain. I highly recommend GoDaddy to all my clients. They are cheap and reliable. Domains are around $10 and you get a discount when you buy hosting at the same time. If you can, always get your own name as a domain name. If you have other domain names that you would like to relate to your website, remember that you can point more than one domain name to a single webpage.

So there you have it! Five steps to a great web image. Once you have all this together, contact me and we’ll get started on the next part.
